MARCH 13: Raider Weekly Preview

MILWAUKEE - The nationally-ranked Men's Volleyball is riding a hot streak into action today, as the winter-like temperatures are wreaking havoc on the spring sports. Baseball and Lacrosse hope to have their home openers this weekend.

Ian's Pizza RAIDER OF THE WEEK: Logan Baerenwald, Men's Volleyball

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (11-2, 8-1 MCVL - W3)

Men's Volleyball continued its hot run last week with sweeps of Cardinal Stritch, Fontbonne, and Greenville. That makes six-straight wins and five-straight sweeps for the Raiders. They've won 14 of their last 15 and re-entered the national poll last week tied for 14th. MSOE has been leading the nation in kills per set and has maintained that pace with 13.67 through 17 matches. It is also among the national leaders in digs per set (11.91) and Quin Krisik has been leading the country in assists per set. The Raiders have a "light" week with just one match on the docket, as they host Mount St. Joseph on St. Patrick's Day.

BASEBALL (2-6, 0-0 NACC - L1)

Baseball had an unexpected weekend off with impending weather forcing the cancellation of the MSOE Invitational in Mauston, Wisconsin. The Raiders hope to get on the field this weekend with doubleheaders against Beloit and Finlandia. The Finlandia date was added to the schedule to make up games lost at the MSOE Invite and are scheduled to be played at Henry Aaron Field instead of MSOE's regular home at The Rock Complex.

LACROSSE (0-3, 0-0 MLC - L3)

Lacrosse is searching for its first win of the season after a 7-6 loss to North Central last week. It was just the third one-goal game in team history after two last season. The Raiders had their game at Concordia Wisconsin, originally scheduled for Saturday, postponed until April 12 due to low temperatures. They'll return to the field Saturday when they host Augustana in their home opener. Clay Gustafson leads the team with eight points on three goals and five assists this season. He's scored a point in each of his last 20 games dating back to his freshman season. Oliver Kennedy has a team-high four goals after a hat trick at NCC and Jack Fisher shares Gustafson's team lead with five assists.
