BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The MSOE men's basketball team fell to No. 8 Illinois Wesleyan 97-63 Tuesday evening at the Shirk Center.
The Raiders (1-3) were outscored 50-26 by the Titans (3-1) in the paint, as the home team shot 58.2 percent for the game.
Ryan Coyle and Mike Marietti scored 13 points apiece to pace IWU as all 15 players that saw the court scored.
Illinois Wesleyan rattled off a 14-0 run to seize control of the game early in the first half, turning a tight 10-7 lead into a 24-7 advantage. The home team continued to gradually pull away and took a 49-20 lead into halftime.
In the second half, the Titans would go ahead by as many as 40 on multiple occasions, but the Raiders rallied to pull as close as 28 at 87-59 before the game settled into its final score.
MSOE did struggle a bit shooting the ball. It hit on 35.5 percent from the field, but made just 3-of-14 from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, IWU added an 11-of-19 three-point shooting clip to its points in the paint to pull away.
The Raiders return to action Saturday, playing at Rockford.
