Seubert's Double-Double Propels Men's Basketball at MBU

WATERTOWN, Wisconsin – Senior Collin Seubert scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the MSOE men's basketball team to a 61-49 victory over Maranatha Tuesday evening.

The Raiders (2-5) rattled off an early 22-4 lead to overtake an early surge by the Sabercats (3-7) and snap their four-game losing streak.

Seubert was the team's lone double-digit scorer, while freshman Matthew Kirmse knocked down three 3-pointers for nine points off the bench and junior Tegan Miles notched eight points.

Zach Terpstra paced Maranatha with 15 points.

MBU scored the first seven points of the game before the MSOE offense got going, but Seubert hit a three-pointer just under three minutes in the game to start a 22-4 run to seize control of the game. When Seubert hit a layup at the 8:46 mark of the half, the Raiders had opened a 22-11 lead. They saw their lead peak at 12 points in the half just a couple minutes later and took a 31-21 lead into halftime.

The Sabercats pulled with three points in the second half at 45-42 with 7:52 to go, but the Red & White pulled away again. Sophomore Jason Palesse kick-started an 8-0 run with a three-pointer, rebuilding an 11-point lead at 53-42. MSOE then made 6-of-6 free throws over the final couple minutes to end any more comeback chances by the home team.

The Raiders shot 35.2 percent for the game, making 8-of-28 three-pointers and 15-of-18 at the free throw line. They also limited Maranatha to 33.9 percent shooting.

MSOE returns to the court Saturday hosting Lawrence.
