Seubert Leads Men’s Basketball to Big Road Win

MADISON, Wisconsin – Senior Collin Seubert posted a double-double of 21 points and 18 rebounds and the MSOE men's basketball team defeated Edgewood 74-58 Thursday evening at the Edgedome.

The Raiders (8-8, 7-5 NACC) led by eight points at halftime and doubled the advantage over the Eagles (4-14, 4-9 NACC) through the second half.

Seubert led four players in double-figures, adding a team-high five assists, and posting the most rebounds by a Raider since Austin Meier had 23 boards Dec. 8, 2010. Sophomore Jason Palesse scored a career-best 15 points and senior Dylan Sommerfeld and junior Nolan Henton had 10 points each.

Tyler Lemke had 16 points for Edgewood. Adam Freitag added 13 points and Sy Staver chipped in with 10.

MSOE used several key runs to overtake the Eagles early on and later pull away. First, the Raiders rattled off nine-straight points to overcome an early 8-2 deficit, then went on an 8-2 run to turn a 16-14 lead into a 24-16 advantage on the way to leading 29-21 at halftime.

Edgewood pulled within six points just over five minutes into the second half at 38-32, when MSOE scored the next nine points to take a 47-32 just over two minutes later. The home team would not pull any closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

The Raiders shot 38.1 percent from the field in the game and went 20-for-25 at the free throw line. They also had a sizable 48-32 rebounding advantage. Edgewood shot 36.8 percent, making just 4-of-21 from three-point range, and finished 12-for-15 at the free throw line.

MSOE returns to the court Saturday, hosting Rockford at the Kern Center.
