WEST CHICAGO, Illinois – The MSOE golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule at the Aurora Spring Invitational Saturday at St. Andrews.
The Raiders took fourth in a tight four-team field, posting a score of +35 (323). That was just one point back of third place and four behind second.
Junior Andrew Ramirez was the team's top finisher at the event, shooting +6 (78). He edged senior Eric Fulsaas for team-high scoring honors by just one stroke. Ramirez tied for fifth and Fulsaas was tied for seventh at +7 (79).
The tournament was a great way to knock the rust off after having been idle on the links since the opening rounds of the NACC Tournament in October. Seven Raiders played in the event.
MSOE's next four finishers were separated by just a shot each. Senior Jarrett Kinney was 19th at +10 (82) and junior Reid Rumack shot +11 (83) to tie for 20th. Sophomore Sullivan Schrandt followed at +12 (84) to tie for 23rd place, just ahead of freshman Michael Barbeau at +13 (85) in 25th place.
Sophomore Charlie Paddock rounded out the Red & White competitors in 28th with a score of +20 (92).
The Raiders return to action April 15 at the WLC Spring Invitational.
