Golf Gets 2018 Off to Strong Start

JANESVILLE, Wisconsin - Three players shot in the 70s, led by sophomore Bryce Lindsley's +2 (73), as the MSOE golf team opened its 2018 fall season at the Culver's Edgewood Fall Classic Friday at Glen Erin Golf Club.

The Raiders finished the opening round at +30 (314) and tied for 10th in the 20-team field with UW-Stout. The second round, scheduled for Saturday morning, was washed out due to weather.

Lindsley picked up where he left off last spring, shooting his lowest collegiate round. Incidentally, his previous low score was a +2 (74) at the Edgewood Spring Classic last May. He tied for third in that tourney, which was held at Bishops Bay in Middleton.

Freshman Garrett Schultz was the team's second scorer at +6 (77) in his first collegiate round. He was tied by sophomore Nick Redmon, who was officially golfing as an individual and not counted in team scorers.

The same is said for sophomore Jacob Mueller, who tied for 59th at +10 (81).

Junior Michael Barbeau and sophomore Jordan Wachowiak each tied for 69th at +11 (82) and senior Sullivan Schrandt was just one stroke back in a tie for 82nd place to round out the counting golfers.

Senior Charlie Paddock was also classified as an individual and shot a +15 (86) to tie for 95th place.

Webster won the abbreviated tournament at +12 (296) while MSOE's score was just four strokes out of seventh place.

The Raiders return to action next Friday at the two-day Tim Kopka Memorial Invitational.
