GALENA, Illinois – Sophomores Bryce Lindsley and Nick Redmon each carded back-to-back rounds in the 70s to lead the MSOE golf team in action at the Midwest Region Classic Friday and Saturday at Eagle Ridge Resort.
The Raiders tied Loras for 14th in the 32-team field, finishing with a score of +67 (643). The team improved its score by seven strokes from the first round to the second to catch the Duhawks.
Redmon got off to the better start, shooting a +6 (78) Friday before finishing with a +7 (79) in his second round. Lindsley, meanwhile, posted the reverse scores, taking off a stroke on day two, as the duo finished in a tie for 29th place at +13 (157) for the weekend.
Each of MSOE's four remaining golfers made improvements in the second round. Senior Sullivan Schrandt shaved three strokes off his score and finished tied for 78th at +19 (163). Junior Mike Barbeau and freshman Garrett Schultz each improved by four strokes to finish tied for 98th and tied for 141st, respectively. Barbeau posted a score of +22 (166) and Schultz shot a +30 (174).
Sophomore Jacob Mueller competed as an individual and shook off a rough first round to card a +6 (78) on Saturday. He improved by 11 strokes from day to day and finished tied for 103rd at +23 (167).
The Raiders return to action next weekend for the Saturday-Sunday WLC Fall Invitational.
