Golf Sits Seventh After NACC Fall Rounds

HAVEN, Wisconsin – The MSOE golf team sits in seventh place in the hotly-contested team standings after the first two rounds of the 2018-19 NACC Championships Sunday and Monday at Whistling Straits.

The Raiders have a team score of +83 (659) with two rounds to go in the spring. They are just one stroke back of sixth place and within three shots of fifth. The final two rounds will be held April 22-23, 2019, at Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora, Illinois.

Individually, sophomore Bryce Lindsley is sitting in an all-conference position at the halfway point, tied for 10th place at +15 (159). He was second after an opening round +6 (78) before firing an 81 on Monday. With improved weather conditions, scores elsewhere atop the leaderboard improved.

MSOE's lineup certainly benefited from the rain and cold making way for temperatures reaching the 80's. Several scores dropped precipitously from round one to two.

Senior Sullivan Schrandt improved on his opening round by eight strokes Monday with a +8 (80). He's in 26th place at +24 (168) to lead the remaining Raiders in a bunch. Freshman Garrett Schultz and sophomore Jordan Wachowiak are tied for 29th at +26 (170) while junior Michael Barbeau is 34th just two shots back.

Schultz saw a 14-shot improvement between the two rounds with a +6 (78) shooting him up the standings. Meanwhile, Barbeau carded the team's best round of the tourney so far, a +4 (76) on Monday. That was a 20-stroke drop in his score from the first round, easily one of the top improvements from the tournament.

This is the final tournament of the fall season.
