WEST CHICAGO, Ill. – MSOE golf opened up the spring portion of their schedule late last week, participating in the Benedictine University Quad against three other teams. The Raiders dominated over the two-round event, taking the top spot both as a team and individuals at St. Andrew's Golf and Country Club.
The Red & White turned in almost identical results in both rounds, finishing with a 319 on Friday and a 316 on Saturday. The total of 635 came in at 63 shots over par, seven ahead of Benedictine to win the four-team tournament.
On the individual side, top honors went to not one, but two Raiders golfers. Bryce Lindsley (Green Bay, Wis. / DePere) and Sullivan Schrandt (Cambria, Wis. / Cambria-Friesland) finished with the identical two round score of 153, good for first place by two shots. Lindsley was the more consistent of the two, shooting a 77 and 76. However, Schrandt had the best round of the tournament, scoring a 73 on day one. This afforded him enough leeway to offset the 80 that came in after round two. Michael Barbeau (Fond du Lac, Wis. / Fond du Lac), Charlie Paddock (Menomonee Falls, Wis. / Menomonee Falls), and Brett O'Shaughnessy (Suamico, Wis. / Bay Port) all finished in the top ten, with Paddock playing as an individual.
MSOE will be back on the links this Saturday and Sunday, taking place in both the WLC Spring and the Lake Forest Invitationals.
