MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Rock Boynton made 39 saves but a late goal was the difference as the MSOE hockey team fell to ninth-ranked Adrian 1-0 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (9-12-4, 7-8-3 NCHA) return to action next weekend in a Harris Cup Quarterfinal series against at the Bulldogs (18-6-1, 13-4-1 NCHA). MSOE is the divisional No. 4 seed in the tournament while Adrian is the top spot in the NCHA South Division.

The Red & White defense proved up to the challenge for the majority of the game, keeping the visitors scoreless for the first 53-plus minutes of the game. The game-winner eventually came at 13:56 of the third period and the Raiders were unable to equalize despite 1:51 with an extra attacker and an empty net.

Boynton tied a season-high with his save total while allowing one goal or less for the second-straight game.

Adrian held a 40-24 shot advantage for the game and the team combined to go 0-for-5 on the power play.
