MSOE Looks Strong In Carthage Loss

MILWAUKEE – Junior Adam Kocsis made 16 saves and freshman Andrew Clemens scored his team's lone goal as the MSOE lacrosse team fell to Carthage 15-1 Monday evening at Viets Field.

The Raiders (0-5, 0-4 MLC) held the Red Men (7-1, 3-0 MLC) to their lowest score in six all-time meetings.

Carthage tallied five goals in the opening frame, before adding four more in the second for a 9-0 lead at halftime. In the second half, the visitors scored the first four goals, but the Raiders pulled a goal back as Clemens found the back of the net for the third-straight match. His goal came with 50 seconds remaining in the period and the Red and White up a man.

The MSOE defense then finished strong, conceding just two goals in the final frame.

Kocsis faced 58 shots in the match, but saved over 50 percent of the shots on goal for the second-straight game. Three goalies combined on the win for the Red Men.

Junior Maxwell Wasscher and senior Jesus Arguelles led the defensive efforts on the field. Wasscher finished with nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Arguelles had six ground balls and caused five turnovers.

The Raiders return to the field Sunday, hosting Alma at Viets Field at 1 p.m.
