MSOE Can't Overcome Second Quarter at BenU

LISLE, Ill. - Freshman Andrew Clemens scored his third-straight hat trick, but Benedictine scored 11 times in the second quarter to hand the MSOE lacrosse team a 19-4 loss Wednesday evening at the Benedictine Sports Complex.

The Raiders (1-8, 1-6 MLC) trailed just 5-1 after the first quarter, but saw the Eagles (8-4, 4-2 MLC) scored 14 goals over the next two quarters on their way to the win.

Clemens scored three times in the game, following back-to-back four-goal efforts. He now leads the team with 17 goals this season.

BenU struck first in the match, just 89 seconds into the first quarter. Clemens quickly answered for his first goal of the game just over a minute later.

The Eagles then responded with 10-straight goals. Clemens scored the team's lone goal to break the streak in the second quarter to make it 11-2. The home team rattled off another 8-0 run before the Raiders finished strong.

MSOE outscored Benedictine 2-0 in the final quarter. Junior Brent Finnegan found the back of the net just into the final frame. Clemens then finished his hat trick shortly thereafter.

BenU outshot the Red and White 64-24. Junior goalie Adam Kocsis made nine saves in the matches.

The Raiders return to action at Aurora Saturday.
