MILWAUKEE – Coming off an inspired performance against Monmouth on Saturday, the MSOE Raiders lacrosse team headed back to Viets Field trying to accomplish something they never have done before: beat Beloit. Though it wasn't their strongest game, the Red & White offense was able to take advantage of Beloit's lack of depth for the 17-10 victory.
Beloit – 10
MSOE Raiders – 17
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (3-4, 3-1 MLC) came out of the gates firing, scoring seven goals in the first quarter. The Raiders went up 2-0 thanks to back to back Jacob Killian (Orchard Lake, Mich./St. Mary's Prep) and Harrison Davies (Coeur D'Alene, Idaho/Couer D'Alene) tallies, before Beloit (2-5, 1-2 MLC) ended Colin Hall's (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Benet Academy) shutout streak at 64:37. The Buccaneers briefly took the lead at the 7:29 mark of the first quarter, but another Davies goal put the Raiders in the driver's seat for good. MSOE added four more in the second to send them into the intermission leading 11-6.
Beloit outscored the Raiders in the third quarter, sneaking three past goalie Sean Finneran (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) in the frame. Finneran, who took over for Hall at the half, shut them down in the fourth however, allowing just one goal over the last 15-minutes of play. Davies would add four goals in the second half to giving him a total of seven, which is good for second place in MSOE's single game records. John Wilson (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) also put himself into the record books with his four assists, as the Raiders beat Beloit for the first time in school history 17-10 on a beautiful spring night in Milwaukee.
TEAM STAT OF THE GAME
