MILWAUKEE – Senior Braden Andryk scored four goals to lead the MSOE men's soccer team in a 6-0 rout of Lawrence Wednesday evening at Viets Field.
Andryk staked the Raiders (2-1) to a 3-0 halftime lead with a first-half hat trick, then led a dominant second-half display against the Vikings (1-2).
Andryk's four goals gave him 59 for his career, moving him past Jeff Stoxen for second in school history. He now trails Logan Andryk's school record by just two. It was his fourth career hat trick and second game with at least four goals.
Andryk opened in the scoring in the 24th minute with a tremendous blast from 10 yards out that overpowered the keeper. He then followed with successive goals just 1:23 apart in the 36th and 38th minutes to complete his hat trick in less than 14 minutes.
MSOE came out of the gates dominating possession until play leveled off. It seemed as though Lawrence would get something going through the midfield until the home team was propelled by playing with the lead.
In the second half, it was all Raiders. Perez headed home a Tabbert corner in the 59th minute and Andryk capped his scoring in the 64th to open a 5-0 advantage.
Junior Santi Ossa then aided in the final score of the night. His dangerous free kick from 25 yards out in the 86th minute was saved off the cross bar, then Gianakos flashed through the penalty area to head in the rebound for his first collegiate goal.
MSOE held a decisive 24-3 shot advantage in the game, including 12 shots on goal. Julien Riviere made six saves on the night.
The Raiders return to the field Saturday, hosting Ripon at 1 p.m.
