FOND DU LAC, Wisconsin – Senior Braden Andryk had a hand in four first-half goals and junior Riley Bruce stopped all four shots he faced in goal to lead the MSOE men's soccer team to a 5-0 victory at Marian Wednesday night at Smith Field.
The Raiders (7-3, 3-1 NACC) outshot the Sabres (7-5, 2-3 NACC) 19-6 in building a 4-0 halftime advantage on the night before tacking on a late score.
Andryk got his side on the board in the 22nd minute, taking a pass from senior Sean Tabbert in the midfield and slotting a low shot to the right of the keeper for a 1-0 lead.
He then set up junior Peyton Tebon in the 31st minute, dribbling through the Marian defense and finding Tebon for his fourth goal of the season.
The Red & White kept going at the home team, with Andryk scoring an unassisted goal after a long run in the 38th minute and setting up the fourth goal on a corner kick just five seconds before halftime. Sophomore Zach Hanson was the recipient of the service on the corner, scoring on a header in traffic.
MSOE cruised through the second half, holding a modest 8-5 shot advantage in the half, and capping the scoring in the 85th minute when senior Sam DAmato netted a goal off an assist from junior Travis Mueller.
On the defensive end, Bruce finished with four saves to deny the NACC's leading scorer in MU's Alonso Fragoso. The forward entered the game with a league-best 18 goals but was limited to seven shots and all four of the team's attempts on target.
The Raiders finished with a commanding 27-11 shot advantage, putting 17 shots on frame. They return to action Saturday, hosting Wisconsin Lutheran at 4 p.m.
