Men’s Soccer Pulls Away Late at Concordia Chicago

RIVER FOREST, Illinois – Sophomore Zach Hanson and senior Peyton Tebon each scored in the final 15 minutes of regulation to send the MSOE men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Concordia Chicago Wednesday afternoon at Concordia Stadium.

The Raiders (9-3, 5-1 NACC) also had junior Riley Bruce stop the one shot on goal he faced to shut out the Cougars (2-10, 2-4 NACC) for his third-straight clean sheet.

The teams were locked in a scoreless battle until the 79th minute when MSOE drew a foul on the side of the box. Senior Braden Andryk set the ensuing free kick into the middle of the box where the 6-foot-3 Hanson was able to head the ball into the goal for what proved to be the game-winner.

Tebon then tacked on an insurance goal just over three minutes later. During a scramble in front of the goal, senior Sean Tabbert slotted a pass to Tebon who notched his fifth goal this season.

The Raider defense was stout throughout, allowing just one of CUC's nine shots to go on goal. Bruce and the defense have combined on a shutout streak of 314:16.

MSOE outshot the home side 17-9, including 8-1 in shots on goal.

The Raiders are back in action Saturday, hosting Benedictine.
