MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's tennis team did not drop a point in scoring a pair of league wins over Concordia Chicago and Dominican Saturday afternoon at McKinley Marina.
The Raiders (6-15, 5-1 NACC) had three different players finish with four victories on the day to defeat the Cougars and Stars 9-0 each for their third and fourth 9-0 wins of league play.
Price played at No. 1 doubles with freshman David Chon in both matches and the duo scored an 8-0 victory against CUC and 8-1 in the Dominican match. Price dropped just one game in two matches at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-0 against the Stars and 6-0, 6-0 vs. CUC. Chon played in singles against the Stars and won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2.
Smith and Nelson played at No. 2 doubles in both matches and replicated the No. 1 results with 8-0 and 8-1 wins, respectively. In singles play, Smith dropped just one game on the day. He manned the No. 2 position against CUC and won 6-1, 6-0, before a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 against DU. Nelson played in the No. 5 position in both matches and posted wins of 6-1, 6-0, and 6-0, 6-2.
Junior Ryan Runke went 2-0 in singles action. He played at No. 3 against the Cougars and won 6-2, 6-1. Then, he dropped to No. 4 for a 6-3, 6-3 win in the second match.
The doubles pairing of senior Mason Sauder and junior Brad Phoenix, as well as senior singles players Austin Campbell and Tyler Haanen also posted victories on the day. Sauder and Phoenix were the No. 3 pairing against Dominican and won 8-3. Campbell played against Concordia Chicago and won at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1. Haanen slotted in at No. 6 against Dominican and also had a 6-1, 6-1 win.
CUC forfeited matches at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles in the opener.
The Raiders return to the courts Wednesday at Lakeland.
