HOW IT HAPPENED
The Raiders kicked off their busy slate with a 9-0 victory over a short-staffed Wisconsin Lutheran squad. Four matches went to MSOE (7-8, 4-1 NACC) via default, putting them one victory away from taking the match right out of the gate. The Red & White took every match that was actually up for grabs, including a David Chon (Palatine, Ill. / Palatine) 6-0, 6-1 win and an Alec Dam (Caledonia, Wis. / Union Grove) 6-0, 6-0 blanking of his WLC opponent.
This afternoon featured two different matches on the road, as the Raiders took on first place Illinois Tech and fifth place Aurora. First up was the Scarlet Hawks, who took down the Raiders 8-1, snapping their four-match winning streak. MSOE was blanked in singles play, with their only "w" coming by way of an 8-4 Curt Norton (Cary, Ill. / Cary-Grove) and Connor Splingaire (Wauconda, Ill. / Wauconda) doubles victory.
The Spartans of Aurora finished off the Red & Whites busy week, with the Raiders getting back on the right track with an 8-1 win. All three doubles teams won by the score of either 8-1 or 8-2, and MSOE was nearly perfect in singles action. Luke Nelson (Cottage Grove, Wis. / Monona Grove) won his contest 6-0, 6-1, while Chon and Splingaire defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-1.
WHO'S ON DECK
