MILWAUKEE - The MSOE men's track & field team posted four wins, including a pair by sophomore Joe Buichl, on its way to taking second at the Warrior Invitational, hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday.
The Raiders scored 142 points, taking second only to St. Norbert for the second-straight meet with 177 points. Carroll took third with 104.
Buichl swept the hurdle events, winning the 110m hurdles in 17.01 and the 400m event in 57.16. In the 110m event, junior Brad Lorr also scored, in third with a time of 20.03. Sophomore Nate gray also scored in the 400m hurdles, finishing fifth in 1:12.47.
Waech added an individual win of his own, topping the pole vault, while sophomore Ben Miller topped the 10,000m. Waech cleared a height of 13-5 3/4 for the win and freshman Alec Polovchak took third in 12-11 3/4. Waech also scored in the 200m, taking seventh in 23.48. Resnick scored in eighth, just 0.10 back in 23.58.
Miller ran 33:13.98 to win the 10K.
In addition to the wins, the team posted three runner-up finishes. Freshman Mike Van Alstyne was second in the long jump with a leap of 20-8 1/2, Lorr took second in the javelin with a throw of 139-6 and junior Jerome Rhodes was runner-up in the high jump with a height of 6-2 3/4.
Senior Ryan Moldenhauer scored with Van Alstyne in the long jump and in the triple jump. In the long jump, he went 19-4 1/4 for fifth place. He leapt 37-8 3/4 in the triple jump and was seventh.
MSOE posted strong finishes in four different relays. In the 4x100m relay, Buichl and Waech teamed with Moldenhauer and junior Adam Resnick for third place in 44.29. Buichl, Waech, junior Dan Franke and freshman Mike Van Alstyne took second in the 4x400m relay, combining on a time of 3:25.90.
Franke, junior Cody Johnson, sophomore Logan Bertling and freshman James Kuczynski teamed for the 800m sprint medley, posting a time of 1:39 and taking third. The Raiders were also fourth in the distance medley with a time of 11:22.83. Junior Garrett Farin, sophomore Andrew Swiecichowski and freshmen Austin Wright and Nick Avila teamed up for the relay.
Wright, Johnson and Kuczynski also scored in individual events. Wright ran 16:12.09 in the 5000m and took fourth. Senior Trevor Koziczkowski took sixth place with a time of 16:32.92. Johnson ran 11.82 and was seventh in the 100m. Kuczynski took fifth in the 400m in 52.68, just ahead of freshman Zach Knoll in seventh with a time of 52.81.
The Raiders scored points over three other events, including in the 3000m, where a pair of runners scored. Senior Jan Patac took third in 10:08.99 and junior Nik Stasinopoulos was fifth in 10:37.98. Freshman Brad Wasilewski took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 39-8 3/4 and senior Milan Johnson took sixth in the 800m in 2:06.28.
