DePERE, Wis. – The MSOE men's track & field team won two events on its way to taking third at the St. Norbert Invitational Thursday.
The Raiders finished with 102.3 points for third place. The host Green Knights took first with 221 points, while Ripon was second with 129.
Sophomore Joe Buichl remained perfect in the 110m hurdles this season, posting his sixth event win of the outdoor season, crossing the line in 15.84. Sophomore Brad Lorr was third in 18.28. Buichl added a fourth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 22.52, while Lorr scored in three other events. Junior Adam Resnick was just behind Buichl in the 200m in 23.26.
Lorr was eighth in the high jump with a height of 5-3 and took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 135-9, cleared 10-6 in the pole vault for sixth. Junior Jerome Rhodes took second in the high jump with a final height of 6-6 3/4. Freshman Scott Van Hulle also scored in the pole vault, also clearing 10-6.
Freshman Mike Van Alstyne and the 4x100m relay also added runner-up finishes. Van Alstyne took second in the long jump with a leap of 21-5 1/2. The 4x100m finished in 44.30. The team's other relay, the 4x400m relay, was fourth in 3:31.46.
MSOE posted top-10 finishes over four more events, including the 1500m run where freshman Austin Wright was fifth and senior Trevor Koziczkowski was sixth. Wright ran 4:20.72 and Koziczkowski finished in 4:27.62. Sophomore Nate Gray ran 1:13.58 for sixth in the 400m hurdles. Junior Jeff Sparks took eighth in the 5000m with a time of 16:53.91 and junior Dan Franke was 10th in the 400m in 52.27.
The team returns to action April 25-26 at the Beloit Relays.
