BELOIT, Wis. – Senior Trevor Koziczkowski won the 10,000m with a meet record and the MSOE men's track & field team added four more runner-up finishes as it took third at the Beloit Relays Friday and Saturday.
The Raiders scored 115 points at the meet. St. Ambrose took first place with 218 points and Carroll was second with 141.
Koziczkowski was MSOE's lone competitor on the meet's first day, winning the 10k with a time of 33:53.17. The time topped the meet record of 34:33.03 set in 2013.
Sophomore Joe Buichl kept his strong sophomore campaign going, posting a pair of runner-up showings in the two hurdle events. In the 100m hurdles, he ran 15.37 for second, while he posted a time of 58.30 in the 400m hurdles. Junior Brian Janus was third in the 400 event in 58.42 and sophomore Logan Bertling rounded out the top five in 1:00.66.
Freshmen Alex Polovchak and Michael Van Alstyne also posted second-place finishes. Polovchak cleared 13-0 3/4 in the pole vault and Van Alstyne leapt 41-5 1/4 in the triple jump. Senior Ryan Moldehnauer joined Van Alstyne in the top five, leaping 39-8 for fourth.
MSOE posted top-five finishes in five other events, led by a pair of fourth-place finishes by senior Matt Waech. He ran 22.64 in the 200m and jumped 20-0 1/4 in the long jump. Junior Dan Franke was fourth in the 400m in 51.30, while junior Nik Stasinopoulos was fifth in the 5000m in 17:05.54 and freshman Nicholas Avila took fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:04.71.
The Beloit Relays was MSOE's last tune-up before next weekend's NACC Championships at Benedictine.
