NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Sophomore Joe Buichl broke his own school 400m hurdles record to lead the MSOE men's track & field team at the Gregory Invitational Friday at North Central College.
Buichl ran a time of 55.92 to eclipse the record of 56.13 he set in 2013. The time was also 1.24 seconds better than his previous best time this season. He placed eighth in the event, while junior Brian Janus was 12th in 58.45.
Junior Jerome Rhodes tied for first in the high jump and sophomore Brad Lorr was sixth in the javelin to highlight the rest of the meet for MSOE. Rhodes, who broke the school high jump record last week at 6-11, tied with five other athletes with a final height of 6-7 1/2.
He entered the weekend fourth in the nation in the event and is expected to earn a place in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He also qualified for the national meet in the high jump during the indoor season.
Lorr threw 147-10 in the javelin. Buichl also competed in the 110m hurdles, taking 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 15.45.
