RIPON, Wisconsin – The MSOE men's track & field posted six top-five finishes in competition at the Red Hawk Invitational Saturday at Ripon College.
Senior Trey Horbinski posted both an individual top-five finish and ran with the fifth-place 4x400m relay at the meet. In the 800m, he placed fourth in 2:01.23 with his twin brother Tripp Horbinski taking 10th in 2:06.17. The pair were joined by freshmen Brian Jimenez and Arandu Huerta in posted a time of 3:41.32 in the relay race.
Junior McCoy Swanson and sophomore Blake Bostwick were also the team's joint top finisher, each posting fourth-place finishes of his own. Swanson leaped 19-10 1/4 for fourth in the long jump and also scored in the 400m with a time of 54.06. Jimenez placed in the top 10 of the 400m but just missed out on scoring in ninth with a time of 54.76.
Bostwick completed the 3000m with a time of 9:18.62 to take fourth place.
Rounding out the top-five showings for the Raiders was sophomore Nick Bath in the mile run and freshman Eddie Diaz Barragan leading three scorers in the pole vault. Bath crossed the line in fifth place with a time of 4:38.61 in his event while Diaz Barragan cleared a height of 11-5 3/4 to take fifth in his. Also in the pole vault, freshman Nick Hahn placed seventh at 10-0 and sophomore Noah Vaculik had a final height of 9-6 1/4 for eighth.
In the throwing events, sophomore Derek Schrimpf scored in both the weight throw and the shot put. He tossed 42-0 for sixth place in the weight throw and finished with a distance of 38-8 3/4 to take eighth in the shot put.
Freshman Keaton Harrison also scored in the high jump, posting a final height of 5-7 and taking sixth.
MSOE finished with 39 points and placed eighth in the 10-team field.
The Raiders are back in action next Saturday at the UW-Platteville Invitational. It will be their second trip to UWP in three weeks.
