Men's Track & Field 4th at Schlender Invitational

WHITEWATER, WI-- MSOE Men's Track and Field team finished 4th at the Karl Schlender Invitational Saturday at UW Whitewater as they were paced by the distance crew's two 2nd place finishes.

The Raiders finished with 53 points, just 3 points from third, in the seven team field.

Blake Bostwick and Nolan Kozinski each finished 2nd in their respective events to highlight a complete team effort on Saturday.  Bostwick ran 4:37.99 in the mile run, just 5 seconds from the blue ribbon and Kozinski ended the day on the track for the Red and White with his runner-up performance in the 3,000 meters, with a time of 9:25.23.  The distance events would tally 17 more points for MSOE in just two other events.  Jesse Lambrecht and Will Demerath added points in the mile and Jude Ingham, Nathan Arrigoni, and Sean Fitzpatrick aided the Raiders in the 3,000 meters.  Lambrecht finished 4th with a time of 4:44.60 and Demerath's time of 4:51.77 was good for 6th place.  Ingham was only 8 seconds behind 2nd place, clocking in at 9:33.57 and Arrigoni and Fitzpatrick were 7th and 8th for the Red and White.

The throwers did their share of damage in Whitewater as they chipped in 7 points for the cause.  Senior Hayden Heun tossed the weight 44' 7 1/2", which was good for 6th place and then returned to the ring in the shot put to finish 8th with a mark of 36' 4 3/4".  Derek Schrimpf followed the lead of his senior to score in both throwing events.  His mark of 38' 6 3/4" in the weight placed him 8th and then putted the shot 37' 5" to take 7th place.

The Jumpers/Vaulters added 12 points for the field side of Track and Field.  Dan Morton lead a vaulting barrage as the Raiders took 5th thru 8th place in the event.  Morton's vault of 12' 11 3/4" was good for 5th, he was followed by Joe Bunales vault of 12' 6", Alec Schulze cleared 11' 6 1/4" and Jack O'Sullivan earned a mark of 11' 1/4".  Alex Moran cleared 6' 3/4" in the high jump for a 7th place finish Tyler Brantner hopped, stepped, and jumped to a mark of 39" 1" to earn 8th place in the triple jump.

The Raiders return to action next Friday evening on the campus of UW Parkside.
