SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The MSOE men's volleyball team fell to No. 8 Lakeland in three sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-17, Friday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Raiders (3-7, 1-1 CVC) dropped their fifth game of the season to a team ranked in the top-10 of NCAA Division III or NAIA.
The Muskies (11-5, 1-0 CVC) had a pair of players in double-digit kills, with Tim Robbins tallying 15 and Alec Redlich 10.
Despite being outhit .474-.167 in the opening game, the Red and White held close with Lakeland and led 13-10 after four-straight points. The frame featured nine ties and three lead changes with the final tie coming at 20-20. LC then scored three-straight points for some breathing room.
MSOE led early in the second game, as well, before a 5-0 Lakeland run turned a 10-8 deficit into a 15-11 advantage. The Raiders scored three-straight points to pull within 21-20. The teams traded points to put the score at 23-22 before the home team scored the final two points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
The final set saw the Red and White stumbled out of the blocks with LC getting a run of three and two runs of four-straight points to take an 18-8 lead. MSOE steadied the ship, but could not string points togethers as the teams alternated scores for much of the rest of the match.
The Raiders return to action March 3 against Carthage. Their Feb. 26 home match with Cardinal Stritch was rescheduled for March 24.
