MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball team lost to Cardinal Stritch 25-11, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20 Monday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (4-15) bounced back from a tough first set against the Wolves (17-11) to claim the second frame. CSU then claimed the final two sets for the match.
Sophomore Brett Herbers led MSOE with 10 kills. Freshman Logan Baerenwald had eight kills and three service aces. Freshman Joe Humpal had 28 assists, two aces and five kills with a .625 attack percentage.
Jimmy Torromeo had 12 kills to pace the Wolves. Patrick Lentz added nine.
After Stritch hit .688 in the first set, the Raiders limited the visitors to .000 in the second to secure the 25-23 win. They overcame an early deficit, using a 7-1 run to pull close. Then, trailing 21-18, MSOE closed on another 7-2 stretch to take the set.
CSU used an 8-3 run to break a 9-9 tie and pull away in the third set. MSOE led the final set 16-15, but the Wolves took control and had breathing room with a 5-2 run.
The Raiders return to action Friday, hosting Mount St. Joseph at the Kern Center.
