MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball team put together a balanced effort in sweeping past Adrian 25-9, 25-14, 25-8, Saturday morning at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (5-3, 2-0 MCVL) posted their fifth-straight win and fourth-straight sweep in getting past the Bulldogs (0-6, 0-2 MCVL) in just 53 minutes.
Sophomore Colton Stermer finished with a team-best five kills for the second-straight match, while five other players finished with four kills apiece. No player appeared in all three sets and just five players played in two each.
Eduardo Aleman tallied four kills for Adrian and Avery Johnson finished with three.
The Raiders overpowered the visiting Bulldogs with a deep rotation of the lineup, hitting a season-best .459 in the match with 35 kills against just seven errors. The home team also had nine aces and needed just 19 digs on the day.
AC is playing in their first season as a varsity program and hit -.164 for the match with just 12 kills.
An early 7-0 run in the first set put the Red & White in the driver's season. It then opened a 19-7 lead after a 9-2 stretch midway through the frame. In the second game, MSOE had an early 8-1 spurt to play from ahead and slowly pulled away for a 2-0 lead in the match. The final set saw another early 7-0 lead give the Raiders a 10-2 lead. They then closed out the match on another 8-1 run.
MSOE returns to the floor Sunday in another 10 a.m. match, hosting UC-Santa Cruz.
