GREENVILLE, Ill. – The 15th-ranked MSOE men's volleyball team rolled to 4-0 in conference play with a 25-22, 25-29, 25-26 sweep of Greenville Saturday night at Long Gymnasium.
The Raiders (7-4, 4-0 MCVL) have yet to drop a set in conference play thus far this season, sweeping past the Panthers (5-4, 0-2 MCVL) for their seventh win in eight matches.
MSOE posted a balanced attack with eight different players registering multiple kills, but no player reaching double-digits. Sophomore Neil Naughton led the way with eight kills on just 12 attacks for a .667 attack percentage. Juniors Joe Humpal and Scott Boyk finished with seven kills apiece.
Sophomore setter Quin Krisik directed the efficient effort with 35 assists over just three sets.
Daniel Bilinski paced Greenville with eight attacks.
In each of the first two sets, the Raiders pulled away after a tight first half of the frame. In the first, the score was 10-10 when the Red & White scored five-straight points. It added a late 4-0 run to set the table to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The second set was quite similar, as the teams were tied 14-14 when a 5-0 run gave the visitors some breathing room. It then closed out the set with the final three points.
MSOE left no doubt in the final frame, scoring the first five points as it jumped out to a 12-4 lead and never looked back.
The Raiders hit over .300 for the fifth time in six matches and for the sixth time this season, finishing at .301. Meanwhile, the team's defensive efforts limited GC to just a .110 attack percentage.
MSOE returns to the court Friday, hosting North Central.
