#10 Raiders Sweep Stritch For Seventh-Straight Win

MILWAUKEE – The No. 10 MSOE men's volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven-straight matches with a 25-21, 25-21, 26-24 sweep of Cardinal Stritch Tuesday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (12-4) swept past the Wolves (13-8) for their 12th win in 13 matches, including their 10th sweep in that time.

Junior Scott Boyk led the way with a match-best 11 kills, while sophomore Sam Stealey had 10 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Quin Krisik finished with 32 assists and sophomore Ben Clarke had nine blocks.

Jason Bowles and Scott Fabian shared team-high scoring honors for Cardinal Stritch with nine kills apiece.

MSOE never trailed in the opening set, getting some breathing room with an early 4-0 run to make it 10-5. Then, with the score 12-9, it rattled off a 7-2 run to open a 19-11 lead. The Red & White advantage was 23-16 when CSU scored four-straight points to pull within 23-20. The teams then alternated points to end the game.

In the second game, the Raiders played catch-up for much of the frame. They tied the game at 10-10 when the Wolves had a 6-2 run to make it 16-12. Their lead was still four at 18-14 when MSOE rallied with a 9-1 to take a 23-19 lead, scoring six-straight points to surge past the visitors and it never looked back.

The Raiders turned around a 10-9 deficit into 13-10 advantage with a 4-0 run in the third set and played from ahead until late in the frame. Stritch would catch up, scoring three-straight points to tie the game at 20-20. The visitors then staved off a match point at 24-23, but MSOE answered with back-to-back points, punctuated by a Boyk kill at the end, to close out the match.

The Red & White hit .250 in the match and committed just nine service errors. It was a stark contrast from the first time these teams met when MSOE hit just .190 with 30 service errors. CSU was limited to .148 attacking for the match.

The Raiders are back in action Thursday, hosting Illinois Tech.
