Kenosha, Wis. – The No. 14 MSOE men's volleyball team traveled to Tarble Arena to take on No. 3 Carthage on Thursday evening. Unfortunately, the night belonged to Carthage as they took the match 25-14, 25-23, 25-21.
The match pitted two undefeated MCVL teams looking to take the next step to a conference title. The Raiders (15-7, 10-1 MCVL) did their best to rally after a tough first game loss. However, the Red Men (23-1, 11-0 MCVL) found a way to fight off the Raiders in the last two games.
Sophomore Bryant Holland had 5 kills, no errors and hit .455 in the match, while sophomore Quin Krisik had 24 assists to help the Raiders attempt a comeback. Unfortunately, Griffin Shields had 14 kills and Matt Reinsel had 32 assists to help Carthage win the match.
The Red & White came close to taking the second set as the score went point for point until Carthage closed it out. The third set was similar as the teams saw the score tied at 14-14 and 19-19, but the Red Men were too much and finished key opportunities to thwart the Raiders push.
The Raiders had 21 errors and hit .113 in the match while Carthage was slightly better with only 14 errors and hit .271.
MSOE returns to the court Friday, April 1st at 7pm to take on Wittenberg at the Kern Center.
