SHEBOYGAN, Wisconsin – The No. 14 MSOE men's volleyball team finished with 83 digs over just three sets and swept Lakeland 25-17, 32-30, 25-18 Friday evening at Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Raiders (15-3, 11-2 MCVL) fell just one dig shy of the school record for digs in a match and limited the Muskies (11-9, 8-6 MCVL) to a negative hitting percentage in claiming the victory.
Junior Logan Baerenwald finished with 16 kills and 16 digs in the match. Senior Ed Kruspki added nine kills and 17 digs. Freshman libero Danny Martens led the team with 20 digs and junior Quin Krisik tallied 18 in the match.

MSOE led by as many as five in the early-goings of the first set but Lakeland had pulled back within 16-15. The Red & White then went on a 9-2 run to end the first game. The second set was extremely tight, as there were 21 ties in the frame and the Muskies fended off eight set points before succumbing.
In the final set, Lakeland scored the first three points but the Raiders responded with the next seven. The home team would not go away, pulling even at 9-9 and trailing 12-11 with MSOE went on a 7-3 run for some breathing room. The team then steadily pulled away down the stretch to complete the sweep.
The 83 digs are easily the second-most in a match in school history and trailed only the 84 the team amassed over five sets vs. Clarke March 21, 2009. Added to 10 total blocks, Lakeland was limited to -.027 attacking for the match. MSOE faired marginally better at .070 hitting, its lowest percentage of the season.
