Men’s Volleyball Picked Second in Inaugural NACC Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's volleyball team was picked second in NACC preseason poll preceding the inaugural season of league sponsorship of the sport, the league office announced late Tuesday.

The Raiders garnered three first-place votes and totaled 84 points. Dominican topped the poll with 94 points and 11 first-place votes.

MSOE set a school record with 20 wins last season and spent most of the season nationally ranked. The Raiders have won 38 matches over the last two seasons and return 10-of-15 letterwinners from 2017. Four of the six players to tally over 100 kills return, led by senior Logan Baerenwald with 3.73 kills per set and 209 kills last season. He was named to the All-MCVL Second Team.

The 2018 season will be the first for men's volleyball in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, as five teams left the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball Conference to join two first-year programs to give the NACC seven full-time members with the sport.

Dominican won the MCVL last season, while MSOE finished second in the MCVL West Division with a 16-3 record.

Benedictine, Lakeland, and Marian were also members of the MCVL, while the Aurora and Concordia Wisconsin programs will begin play in 2018.
