Men’s Volleyball Soars Past Concordia Wisconsin in First Meeting

MEQUON, Wisconsin – The MSOE men's volleyball team hit .354 and out-killed Concordia Wisconsin 42-10 in flying to a 25-14, 25-8, 25-18 victory Friday night at Buuck Fieldhouse.

It was the first-ever meeting between the Raiders (2-1, 1-0 NACC) and the first-year Falcons (0-11, 0-1 NACC). It was also the first match as a member of the NACC for both sides.

Freshman Griffin Dunn led a balanced attack with nine kills on .571 attacking. Senior Sam Stealey notched seven kills to go with five service aces and sophomore Jake Christensen had six kills while playing just the first set. Four more players finished with four kills and freshman setter Jacob Bentz tallied 29 assists in his collegiate debut.

Will Driver had three kills to lead CUW.

MSOE had more kills in each of the three sets than the home team accumulated for the match, hitting .407 and .440 over the first two sets. The easy night allowed the team to switch up its lineup and shuffle players in and out of the rotation.

In addition to the efficient hitting night, the Raiders added 14 aces behind Stealey's efforts. Junior Brian Jones added three, senior Logan Baerenwald two, and freshman Luke Carpenter two more in the match.

The Falcons opened the night hitting .071 in the first set before seeing their attack percentage dip into negative numbers in each of the final two sets and come to rest at -.023 for the night. They had 10 kills against 11 errors while attempting 38 less attacks than the Red & White (82-44).

MSOE returns to the court Saturday, hosting Marian at 1 p.m.
