MILWAUKEE – Senior Logan Baerenwald tallied 13 kills in just 16 attacks and the MSOE volleyball team hit .351 for the match as it defeated Marian 25-11, 25-9, 14-25, 25-17 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (3-1, 2-0 NACC) hit over .350 for the second-straight match in cruising past the Sabres (4-6, 0-2 NACC) in the first two sets before a knockout punch in the fourth.

Baerenwald's day, which included just one error, is tied for the fifth-most efficient hitting performance in team history with a .750 attack percentage. Senior Neil Naughton was also efficient in racking up 10 kills, committing just two errors in 15 attacks for a .533 hitting rate.

Sophomore Jake Christensen added eight kills and senior Bryant Holland collected seven in the match.

Jon Smallpage led Marian with nine kills and Aaron Wendels finished with six.

MSOE hit over .600 in each of the first two sets, breaking open an early 3-3 tie in game one with an extended 16-4 run to make it 19-7. After the Sabres answered with three consecutive points, the Red & White scored the next five and 6-of-7 to close out the frame.

The Raiders carried over that momentum into the second frame, scoring the first eight points and building a 16-5 advantage. Moments later, a 7-1 run effectively put the game away.

Marian was able to get some traction going on offense in the third set against a shuffled Red & White lineup, pulling a game back in the match. The starters returned for the fourth set and steadily pulled away throughout the frame. The score was tied just once and MSOE led by at least five for most of the period before scoring five of the final seven points.

The Raiders finished with 48 kills against just 14 errors in the match and added nine service aces and 9.0 total blocks. Senior Andrew Miller had another strong match driving the offense with 34 assists over three sets of action.

The Sabres hit .021 for the match.
