MILWAUKEE – Jake Christensen (Kenosha, Wis./Lakeview Technology Academy) had 11 kills and Quin Krisik (Itasca, Ill./Itasca) helped out with 30 assists, as the No. 10 MSOE Raiders men's volleyball team took down Concordia-Wisconsin for their ninth straight win Wednesday night at the Kern Center.
Concordia-Wisconsin – 0 (13, 18, 16)
#10 MSOE Raiders – 3 (25, 25, 25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Concordia-Wisconsin (8-12, 4-9 NACC) came into the game shorthanded and it showed. Just eight Falcon players saw the court this evening, something that MSOE (17-6, 11-2 NACC) took quick advantage of. The Raiders started the initial set of the game on a 7-1 run, easily giving themselves enough breathing room for victory number one. MSOE went on to have four rallies where they scored three or more points, and CUW managed to score just 13 of their own, hitting -.214 in the set one loss.
Set two and three was much of the same. While the Falcons rebounded to hit .474 in game two, the Raiders still managed a .424 attack percentage. CUW held the lead early, but MSOE would go on several rolls again, distancing themselves in the middle portion of the contest for the 25-18 win. The Raiders never let the Falcons lead in the last set of the evening, pulling away with 14 kills and leading by 10 towards the tail end of the frame in route to the 25-16 victory.
When the dust settled, MSOE won the match 3-0 and now are tied for first place in the conference with Benedictine at 11-2. Another item to keep our eyes on is Krisik's chase of the all time assists record. With his 30 today, he is only 85 assists from tying the record set by Chris Brandt (2007-10).
