MILWAUKEE – Make that two honors for the freshman from Brookfield, Wis. this week. Jacob Sirny (Brookfield, Wis.) has been named Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Men's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-14, 2019, as selected by the league's sports information directors. This is his first time winning this award during his collegiate career.
Sirny, a middle blocker, totaled 25 kills in two matches while hitting .432 while helping lead the top-seeded Raiders to the NACC Tournament crown and a berth in the NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Championship. In a semifinal sweep of fifth-seeded Lakeland Friday evening, he had 11 kills, four digs and a block assist. Sirny posted a .600 attack percentage against the Muskies, with just two errors in 15 total attacks.
In Saturday's four-set win over Dominican, Sirny had 14 kills and a block assist while registering a .345 attack percentage.
Sirny and the rest of his Raider teammates are already in the early stages of preparation for their battle against Fontbonne in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA MVB tournament. The game, which takes place at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., will have a first serve time of 6:30 pm.
