LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced its 16th annual AVCA Men's Division III All-America Teams, as voted on by the 11-person committee. Making the list were two MSOE men's volleyball student-athletes who added the accolade to what has already a historic season.
Junior Danny Martens (Northbrook, Ill. / Glenbrook North) was named to the 2019 AVCA Men's Division III First-Team, the second straight year that he has earned the honor. Martens becomes the first Raiders player to claim two first team awards throughout his career and can make it three next season. Martens played in 111 sets over 29 games, claiming a total of 341 digs, which breaks the single season record he set last year. His 3.07 digs per set ranked him third in the NACC and was good for the number ten spot in NCAA DIII. With his senior campaign still yet to come, Martens already holds the career digs record with 882 and counting.
Making the 2019 AVCA Men's Division III Second-Team this year is Quin Krisik (Itasca, Ill. / Itasca), who returns to the AVCA postseason honor roll for the first time since making the second team back in 2015. His stats speak of what a great player he has been throughout his career with the Red & White. Krisik accumulated 191 kills this season, as well as a .301 attack percentage, 1,038 assists, 259 digs, and 55 total blocks. He ranked fourth in the NACC in digs, fifth in hitting percentage, second in service aces per set (0.61), and third in assists per set (9.27). His aces per set ranked him 11th nationally and came in 19th for assists per set. Krisik leaves MSOE as the career leader in assists (4,025) and service aces (179), while coming in at No. 2 in digs (861) and attack percentage (.323).
