Raiders Take Fifth At Falcon Invite

MEQUON, Wis. - Senior Trevor Koziczkowski (Stevens Point, Wis. / SPASH) took ninth place and freshman Austin Wright (Marinette, Wis. / Marinette) joined him in the top 20 to lead the MSOE men's cross country team to a fifth-place showing at the Falcon Invitational Saturday at Concordia University.

The Raiders scored 127 points for fifth in the 16-team field, while Milwaukee took top honors with 21. Among Division III teams, MSOE was third, just 14 points behind Carroll.

Koziczkowski ran the course in 26:41 to lead the team on the 8K course. Wright, who led the Raider runners in Koziczkowski's absence last weekend, finished 16th with a time of 26:56--48 seconds better than his time last week.

Sophomore Ben Miller (Manitowoc, Wis. / Manitowoc Lutheran) and juniors Nik Stasinopoulos (Franklin Park, Ill. / East Leyden) and Brian Janus (Green Bay, Wis. / Preble) rounded out the Red and White scorers. Miller took 30th in 27:32, while Stasinopoulos was 40th in 27:54. Janus crossed the line in 28:06 for 44th.

Also factoring in the Raiders top-seven were freshman James Kearn (New Berlin, Wis. / West) and junior Jeff Sparks (Bloomington, Ind. / North). Kearn improved his time from last week by over two minutes, running 28:21 for 51st place. Sparks also lowered his time by over two minutes, finishing in 29:35 and 81st.

MSOE returns to action next weekend at the Wheaton Invitational in Illinois.
