MSOE Takes Second At Wisconsin Private College Championship

MEQUON, Wis. – Sophomore Ben Miller and freshman Austin Wright each finished in the top 10 to lead the MSOE cross country team to a second-place finish at the Wisconsin Private College Championship Saturday at Concordia University Wisconsin.

The Raiders, competing without top runner senior Trevor Koziczkowski, scored 58 points to trail only St. Norbert's score of 53 points. There were 10 teams at the meet.

Miller was the top Red and White runner for the first time this season, finishing sixth with a time of 27:12. Wright placed 10th and was just seven seconds back in 27:19. He edged junior Brian Janus by just one second and junior Nik Stasinopoulos by three. Janus was 12th in 27:20 and Stasinopoulos 14th in 27:22.

Freshman Jan Patak rounded out the team scorers, crossing the line in 27:54 and taking 16th. Junior Jeff Sparks and freshman Nick Avila also factoring in the team's top seven. Sparks took 26th in 28:35 and Avila ran 28:55 for 35th.

This was the last tune-up for the Raiders, as they head to the NACC Championship Nov. 2 in West Allis, Wis.
