MSOE Finishes Season Strong At NCAA Regional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Sophomore Ben Miller ran the team's second-best time this season and three more Raiders posted season-best times as the MSOE men's cross country team finished its season strong at the 2013 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders finished 20th in the 39-team meet, scoring 607 points. They finished just seven points out of 19th, while putting 28 points between themselves and 21st. North Central (Ill.) scored 56 points to win the meet by 45 points over Washington University.

Miller finished the 8K course in 26:08, taking 65th place and lowering his season-best time by 46 seconds. Freshman Austin Wright shaved 14 seconds from his best time as he crossed the line 98th in 26:42.

MSOE's next four runners finished within 30 seconds of each other, led by junior Brian Janus in 27:29 and 142nd place. Junior Nik Stasinopoulos ran 27:39 for 151st and freshman Jan Patak was the final scoring runner in 27:47, taking 160th and besting his season-low time by seven seconds.

Junior Jeff Sparks took 174th in 27:59, enjoying an improvement of 36 seconds, and freshman Nick Avila rounded out the Red and White runners in a time of 29:18 for 226th place.
