MEQUON, Wisconsin – The MSOE men's cross country team had three finishers among the top seven to take second place at the Ken Weidt Classic Saturday morning on the Concordia Wisconsin campus.
The Raiders were runner-up at their second-straight meet, scoring 48 points and finishing behind only NCAA Division II Concordia-St. Paul with 39 points. Carthage was the next-best Division III team in third place, 25 points back of MSOE with 73.
Senior Austin Wright once again led the way, running a time of 26:58.4 for fourth place. Junior Trey Horbinski edged junior teammate Matt Thomas for sixth place, crossing the line in 27:26.3, just 2.5 seconds ahead of Thomas in seventh.
Freshman Nick Bath placed 11th with a time of 27:38.8 and junior Collin Rink rounded out the team scorers with a time of 28:13.8 and 20th place finish. Juniors Tripp Horbinski and Nick Avila fell just shy of scoring, finishing right behind Rink in 21st and 23rd places respectively. Trey Horbinski posted a time of 27:15.0, just 1.2 seconds back, and Avila ran just 1.7 seconds off that pace in 28:16.7.
The Raiders will look to continue their strong start to the season next Saturday at UW-Whitewater's Tom Hoffman Invitational.
