Trey Horbinski Takes Second at Weidt Classic

MEQUON, Wisconsin - Trey Horbinski finished runner-up and all five scorers placed in the top 25 as the MSOE men's cross country team took third at the Ken Weidt Classic Saturday morning on the campus of Concordia Wisconsin.

The Raiders posted a team score of 74, finishing just five points back of second place in the 12-team field. It was a three-team race for the top as first, second, and third places were separated by 19 points while fourth place was 64 points back.

Horbinski edged third place by just over four seconds to claim runner-up honors, posting a time of 27:35.4. It was the team's first meet this season at 8000m.

Nick Bath missed out on the top 10 by 0.1 seconds, settling for 11th with a time of 28:25.9. Blake Bostwick was also in the top 20 in 16th place with a time of 28:50.0 while Tripp Horbinski and Hail Kazik rounded out the scoring runners. Horbinski posted a time of 29:34.3 to edge Kazik for 22nd place. Kazik was just 0.6 seconds back and settled for 23rd.

Noah Vaculik and Sean Fitzpatrick also counted for the team. Vaculik was 29th in 29:52.2 and Fitzpatrick crossed the line in 30:21.5 for 35th in his first collegiate 8K.

MSOE returns to action next Saturday at UW-Whitewater's Tom Hoffman Invitational.
