KENOSHA, Wisconsin – Sophomore Nick Bath and senior Trey Horbinski ran down to the wire for top-scoring honors in leading the MSOE men's cross country team to sixth place at the Lucian Rosa Invitational Saturday morning at UW-Parkside.
The battle among the team's top runners carried the duo into the top 25 of the field which included teams from Marquette, the University of Chicago, as well as the host Rangers.
The Raiders scored 150 points in the eight-team field of non-Division I teams.
Bath came out on top for bragging rights with a time of 27:32.1, which placed him 19th overall. Horbinski was just over two seconds back in 21st place with a time of 27:34.1.
Senior Tripp Horbinski was the team's next finisher in 60th place, as he crossed the line in 29:13.9 to lead a pack of Red & White runners. Sophomore Blake Bostwick ran 29:29.7 for 67th and freshman Sean Fitzpatrick was just five places back in 72nd with a time of 29:53.6.
Junior Kenny Holbrook and freshman Mark Nelson were the teams other counting runners. Hobrook just missed out on a scoring place with a time of 30:26.8 for 78th place. He was followed closely by Nelson in 30:29.6, which placed him 81st.
MSOE returns to action next weekend at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by Maranatha Baptist in Watertown.
