MILWAUKEE – Sophomore Emily Snow of the MSOE softball team has been named to the All-Great Lakes Region First Team at catcher by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), the organization announced late Monday.
Snow, who was the NACC Player of the Year, is just the third Raider to earn all-region honors and just the second first-team selection. Mindi Eineichner was named to the first team at shortstop in 1998 while Angie Schwebke was named an at-large selection to the third team that season as well.
Snow played in 39 games this season, reaching base safely in each of her last 37 appearances to set a NACC record. She led the league in hitting at .477 and leads the nation with 23 doubles this season—another league record. She posted two 18-game hitting streaks, including an active run to end the year, and broke school records for hits (62) and RBIs in a season. Snow also threw out 11 would-be base-stealers as she repeated as an All-NACC First-Team catcher.
MSOE had a historic season in 2017, winning a school-record 29 games. After being picked 10th in the NACC preseason poll, the team defied all expectations to go 17-5 in league play and finish tied for second. The team also qualified for its second league tournament since joining the NACC and 2008 and its first since 2014.
