Women's Basketball Picked Third in NACC Preseason Poll

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's basketball team was picked third in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll, the league office announced Wednesday.

The Raiders garnered 235 points in the poll, trailing first-place Wisconsin Lutheran with 274 and Concordia Wisconsin with 270. MSOE finished 33 points up on fourth-place Lakeland with 202.

The Red & White posted their best league season in 2015-16, tying for second with WLC at 16-4.

MSOE returns three starters from last season for first-year head coach Katie Nelson, including defending NACC Player of the Year senior Holly Denfeld. She led the league with 19.7 points per game, adding 9.7 rebounds and shooting a school-record 58.4 percent from the field.

The Raiders open their season Nov. 19, hosting Lake Forest.
