MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's basketball suffered a 72-53 defeat at the hands of Benedictine Thursday night at Hotchkin Arena.
The Raiders (7-7, 5-5 NACC) fell behind the Eagles (11-2, 8-1 NACC) early and were unable to catch up with the visitors.
All 13 players that dressed saw action for MSOE, with 12 logging double-digits in minutes. Junior Brooke Scott led the team with eight points and six rebounds in 17 minutes, her most minutes since returning from a season-ending injury last season.
Allison Michalski led all players with 22 points. D'Asia Williams tallied 15 points with nine rebounds.
The Eagles shot 50 percent in the first half and used a 13-2 run in the first quarter to pull away early in the game. The run put their lead at 21-7 with just over 90 seconds remaining in the opening quarter and they would lead by as many as 25 before halftime and never looked back.
In the second half, the Red & White was able to capture some momentum and outscored the visitors 30-25, but it would never pull within striking distance.
MSOE shot 34.6 percent in the game but hit on just 2-of-11 from three-point range. They did convert on 15-of-19 free throws. BenU cooled off in the second half to finish at just 39.7 percent shooting for the night. The Eagles made just 5-of-18 three-point tries and 9-of-15 free throw attempts.
The Raiders have the weekend off before returning to the court Wednesday at Dominican.
