MILWAUKEE – Senior Jamie Spanbauer dropped 18 points on Senior Day in a win over Marian. The MSOE women's basketball team (13-12, 11-9 NACC) defeated Marian University (2-18, 2-23 NACC) 69-41 at Hotchkin Arena in front of a packed house.
Most might think this would be a typical Senior Day. However, the game meant more than just celebrating another senior class. Win and the Raiders make the NACC tournament. Lose and it is time to turn in the uniforms after another season. This senior class was up to the challenge.
The Raiders showed their chemistry and class as they logged 17 team assists on the day, along with 13 steals and forcing 22 turnovers. Leading the Raiders was Senior Jamie Spanbauer with 18 points shooting 7-of-15 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from downtown. Kayla Barreto chipped in 12 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the floor.
The last tournament appearance for MSOE was in 2016 when the Raiders faced Benedictine University in the first round. The team is happy to have their hardwork pay-off.
The Raiders return to the court Tuesday as they face CUW in the first round of the NACC Tournament.
