The Raiders scored 28 team points and placed ninth out of 12 teams. Central took first place with 131.5 points, eight points ahead of second-place Millikin.
Both Matticks and Vandenbush rebounded from early losses to wrestle their way into their respective third-place matches.
At 165 pounds, Matticks opened with a tough 4-1 loss. Then, in the consolation bracket, he was pitted against freshman teammate Alex Moran and emerged victorious, 12-5. Matticks followed that up with a win by fall in 3:36 to advance to the third-place bout. Once there, he clinched third-place with a tight, 4-2 decision.
Vandenbush wrestled at 174 pounds and rebounded from an opening loss to post three-straight decision victories to advance through the consolation bracket. He opened action in the wrestle-back bracket with a 7-2 win, followed by a 8-4 victory. He slipped into the third-place match with a 4-3 win before falling 10-5.
Makoutz opened with a decisive 13-2 major victory at 133 pounds. He rebounded from a tech fall loss for a 2-0 win in his consolation opener. Sam Rathburn started his day at 149 pounds with a win by fall in 3:00 and Jack Rathburn won his first 157-pound consolation match, 7-2. Moran advanced to his all-MSOE matchup with a 17-2 tech fall in the consolation bracket and Snyder also picked up a tech fall win (17-2) to open consolation action at 174 pounds.
The Raiders are back in action at the North Central Invitational next Saturday.
