Zwaschka Steps Down, Takes Position at Whitewater

MILWAUKEE – Matt Zwaschka has resigned his position as head coach of the MSOE wrestling team to become the new head coach at UW-Whitewater, the department announced Wednesday.

Zwaschka led the Raiders for five seasons, sending four wrestlers to the NCAA Championships, and stewarding the program into the CCIW.

Last season, Austin Bellile became MSOE's third wrestling All-American when he took seventh at 285 pounds. It was the program's highest national finish ever. As a team, the Raiders finished fifth in the CCIW, their second season as an associate member of the conference and a two-place improvement from year one.

Zwaschka returns to Whitewater after serving as an assistant coach from 2005-11. He helped the team tie for 12th at the 2009 NCAA Championships and coached seven All-Americans, eight Academic All-Americans, and six individual Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champions.

A national search for a new head wrestling coach is underway.
