KENOSHA, Wis. – Senior Paula Bohl (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego) scored two goals, but it was Corinne Brennan's second goal in the second overtime that proved the difference as the MSOE women's soccer team fell at Carthage 3-2 in two overtimes Thursday evening at Art Keller Field.
The Raiders (3-5) held leads at 1-0 and 2-1, but the Lady Reds (6-1) answered each time and broke through in the third minute of the second overtime.
Bohl struck first in just the fifth minute, converting off a free kick with assists from senior Allison Zimont (Kalamazoo, Mich. / Plainwell) and freshman Becca Keller (Waterloo, Wis. / Lake Mills). Brennan then answered just over five minutes later, unassisted.
MSOE would once again take the lead as Bohl struck again in the 30th minute, this time off an assist from sophomore Aly Loepfe (Brookfield, Wis. / East). The Raiders would hold the 2-1 lead until just after halftime when Kara Winans struck from the top of the penalty area to knot the game at 2-2.
The score would remain tied through the remainder of regulation and the first overtime. Just over two minutes into the second overtime Brennan struck for her second goal of the day.
Sophomore Margot Giesey (Batesville, Ind. / Batesville) made her second-straight start in goal for the Raiders, making one save in a half of action. Freshman Haley Anderson (New Berlin, Wis. / Catholic Memorial) played the second half and overtime, stopping 10 shots.
MSOE returns to NACC play Saturday, travelling to take on Concordia Chicago at 3:30 p.m.
